Fowler Joins Peoples' Self-Help Housing as Chief Financial Officer
Peoples’ Self-Help Housing Executive Director Jeanette Duncan has announced the hiring of John D. Fowler as their new Chief Financial Officer. As CFO Fowler will oversee financial administration duties for both Peoples’ Self-Help Housing and The Duncan Group.
“John brings a wealth of critical accounting and property management expertise to our company at a time when our industry and the country are challenged to accomplish more with less,” said Duncan. “Peoples’ has been committed to providing affordable housing opportunities in the tri-counties for over 40 years, and John’s expertise and passion for what we do is a perfect match for our needs. He will help ensure that we continue to provide for those most in need in our local communities.”
Previously Fowler served as Provincial Executive Liaison with the Franciscan Friars of California where he was responsible for project management and development efforts over a several state area. Fowler provided the vision and energy as Project Manager for the restoration of Mission San Miguel Archangel and Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa. He also worked at Mid State Bank (now Rabobank) in Arroyo Grande as a Chief Executive Officer.
A graduate of California State University at Sacramento, Fowler completed post-graduate accounting classes at California State University, Bakersfield and is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant. He serves on the boards of directors of the City of San Luis Obispo Cultural Heritage Committee, Newman Foundation Board at Cal Poly University San Luis Obispo, Mission School Memorial Foundation, and Noor Foundation Board . He is also past chair of a City of San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce Advisory Board.
A San Luis Obispo resident, he enjoys running and spending time with his five children and five grandchildren.
