Wells Fargo Volunteers Roll up their Sleeves
for Peoples' Self-Help Housing

Santa Barbara, CA, July 25, 2006—Wells Fargo team members will volunteer to work at Peoples’ Self-Help Housing (PSHH) affordable rental housing sites beginning at the Ellwood Apartments in Goleta on July 26. Volunteers, as part of the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation Team Member Volunteer Program, will work a total of 7 days in both July and August, and their efforts will raise $17,500 for PSHH.

Wells Fargo Housing Foundation Focus Communities Initiative also recently launched a matching “Challenge Grant” of $50,000 for PSHH. The “Challenge Grant”, running from May 15th to November 15th, is being made through the Focus Communities program, which develops affordable home ownership opportunities. The Wells Fargo Housing Foundation designed the Focus Communities program to help local housing organizations. In turn, this reduces an organization’s dependency on the decreasing pool of government funds.

“We will continue to support the work of Peoples’ Self-Help Housing—Our staff also feels personally connected to the work through their volunteerism and the efforts that each branch makes to help raise money for this worthy organization. This challenge grant is another way to get the business community involved in making affordable housing available,” said Erica Huntzinger, Market President for Santa Maria.

“Once again the leadership and staff of Wells Fargo have stepped forward to actively support affordable housing on the Central Coast. We are deeply appreciative of their commitment and active participation,” said Jeanette Duncan, Peoples’ Self-Help Housing Executive Director.
