Peoples' Self-Help Housing Celebrates Addition of Affordable Senior Housing in Paso Robles

Dedication and Tour of Creekside Gardens Senior Apartments on June 10th at 10am

Santa Barbara, CA, June 9, 2005—Peoples' Self-Help Housing (PSHH) is celebrating the dedication and grand opening of Creekside Gardens, the organization's newest affordable senior rental housing complex in Paso Robles on Friday, June 10 th at 10 a.m.

Creekside Gardens is a permanently affordable rental community for seniors, which offers 29 one-bedroom, garden-style apartments in nine single-story buildings. This is the second affordable rental community for seniors Peoples' Self-Help Housing has built in Paso Robles. The first, Los Robles Terrace, was completed in 1991. The organization also developed and sponsored two home ownership communities in Paso Robles, completed in 1984 and 1999. In addition PSHH began construction late last year on the Canyon Creek development, which is located across from Creekside Gardens. Canyon Creek will provide 68 affordable rental units for families, with an anticipated completion date of Spring 2006.

Creekside Gardens was especially designed to accommodate the needs of senior tenants. Special features were incorporated to provide top-quality senior housing, including extra-wide hallways, emergency call buttons and grab bars in the bathrooms.

The complex also includes a community building for resident activities and on-site services such as health screenings, as well as outdoor recreational areas. Residents enjoy beautifully landscaped gardens, a gazebo, and oak trees surrounding the site.

Creekside Gardens is made possible through financing partnerships with the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development, the City of Paso Robles, County of San Luis Obispo (HOME Funds), Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco-Affordable Housing Program (AHP) Funds, and Washington Mutual Bank.
